Research has been done which shows the link between daily activities and diabetes. One of the papers published in Lancet, showed that sleep debt has effects on metabolic and endocrine function. Similarly, one of the studies published in Journal of International Medical Research showed that heart rate variability is lower in diabetic patients compared to healthy individuals. These studies suggests that daily physical activities can affect the physiological system of body leading to disease condition.
To manage the disease burden, one should focus on tracking the physical parameters (e.g. heart rate, activity and sleep) of the body and correlating these parameters with bio-markers associated with the disease. For tracking the physical parameters, many fitness bands have been launched in the market and have gained huge success. These fitness trackers can be used to improve the health care industry greatly. In 2018, the prediction is that the revolution in healthcare will be along the lines of data analytics which will increase data relevance while decreasing the time that users needed to spend on health monitoring.
